An interesting bit of NYC music trivia. My 12th Street Ale House in the East Village was once a bar called Slugger Ann where Lou Reed and others often went to ditch the Warhol crowd. Cross dresser Jackie Curtis bartended every Thursday dressed as James Dean, hence the line in Walk On The Wild Side

After Slugger Ann closed the place became a notorious gay bar called Dick’s, finally being reinvented by myself and partner Rob Gelardi into the 12th Street Ale House, which has  developed into what we modestly refer to as the best corner bar in New York City. Located on the corner of 12th Street & 2nd Avenue, you can’t miss the King Kong mural by renown artist Antony Zito painted on the side of the building.
